It portrays sleep as a kind of "death" and represents the world (dream) until awakening, which is synonymous with revival. Throughout the piece, it maintains an extremely soft and expansive sound, with the piano singing in a relaxed manner.
The original composition is 32 minutes long, but the latter half, where the piano takes the lead, is separated as a short version.
Additionally, the piano performance section of this short version is also included as an independent piece in the piano music collection "Sketches, Vol. 2" as the fourth track.
